NATIONAL SCIENCE FOUNDATION
TOKYO REGIONAL OFFICE

May 23, 2005

The National Science Foundation's Tokyo Regional Office periodically reports on developments in Japan that are related to the Foundation's mission.  It also provides occasional reports on developments in other East Asian countries.

Tokyo Office Report Memoranda are intended to provide information for the use of NSF program officers and policy makers; they are not statements of NSF policy.

Report Memorandum #05-04

The following report was prepared by Ms. Kazuko Shinohara of the National Science Foundation’s Tokyo Regional Office. She can be reached at kshinoha@nsf.gov

Japanese Government Support
For Genome Research
JFY2005

Of the cross-agency science and technology-related budgets compiled by the CSTP (Council for Science and Technology Policy), the Post Genome Research projects supported by the government are listed below. Whereas it does not show the exact total funding amount, it provides rough sketch of the Government funding level for Genome Research. The A, B, and C are the CSTP’s rating of the projects (see http://www.nsftokyo.org/rm05-01.html). The names of the projects are quick translation and may not match the official names of the projects.
